CD-R drive keeps devolving to CD drive

So I bought this new drive since my old CD-R drive didnt ever work. I had it installed and rebooted, xp recognized the new software and aside from the disc tray occasionally jamming it burns cds fine. The problem is that every time I burn a cd the drive in the my computer screen goes from cd-r drive to cd-drive and wont let me burn another disc unless i restart the whole system.
Windows said my drivers are up to date on the hardware and I dont know what else to do!

HELP MEEEEEEE PLEEEEAAAASEE :tazz:

the following link to microsoft help might provide an answer., although the problem described there is not exactly like yours. Do you have more than one CD device installed and/or is the cd device shown in device manager the correct one for your system?
