*Double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*In the field labeled Full Path of File to Delete enter the file paths listed below (EXACTLY as it appears, please double check to make sure! I would just copy each file path and paste it in the field):

c:\windows\system32\ugwzqx.exe

Press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it after each one. When it asks if you would like to delete on reboot, press the YES button, when it asks if you want to reboot now, press the YES button.

Since I don't what is causing it or what prompts the file to change names on us, we need to be on here at the same time to get rid of it. It seems to change names relatively quickly and by the time we run killbox we're essentially killing nothing because the name has already changed. So, I need to know when you will be on here for longer than just a couple of minutes so I can be on at the same time and we can get rid of it!

Thanks!

Make sure you are disconnected from the Internet and that all programs and windows are closed. Run HiJackThis. Put a check next to the following item and click FIX CHECKED

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Don't exit HiJackThis yet. Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (copy and paste):

SvcProc

Click ok.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Close all programs and windows then click "yes".

After rebooting, post a new HiJackThis log.

Hi,

Despite going through Fix Checked, when I type in SvcProc in Delete an NT service and click ok, a message comes up saying that 'The service 'SvcProc' is enabled and/or running. Disable it first, using HiJackThis itself (from the scan results) or the services.msc window.'

I am usually around from lunchtime-early afternoon (GMT); if you need me to be on at the same time.

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

System Startup Service (SvcProc)

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Open HiJackThis, click on "None of the above, just start the program". Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (copy & paste!):

SvcProc

Click OK.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Click YES.

Post a new HiJackThis log after it reboots and let me know if you received any error messages

Hi!

No error messages! Here is the log:

(Please let me know if this case seems like a lost cause as, though it sounds drastic, I can have someone take the computer away, basically re-format the hard drive and start Windows clean from scratch)

Definitely not a lost cause - we only have to delete one file! No need to re-format!!

*Double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*In the field labeled Full Path of File to Delete enter the file paths listed below (EXACTLY as it appears, please double check to make sure! I would just copy each file path and paste it in the field):

c:\windows\system32\jsoqpiq.exe

Press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it after each one. When it asks if you would like to delete on reboot, press the YES button, when it asks if you want to reboot now, press the YES button.

When I clicked yes, I got a "Pending File RenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" Presume I just press OK and manual restart if necessary?

I seem to see a change everytime in the system32 folder.

If time is of the essence, would you mind if I went ahead and deleted the one I believe is the 'odd one out' (I do see the ones which aren't usually present) and post you a log when I believe it's done?
