Dear geeks to Go:

I am looking for a defreg program that acts like the OLD Norton defrag program. What I mean is I would like to be able to tell it to place programs first then files. I would also like the program to be able to move the “Allocated Space” & “MFT” files so they are not scattered over the HD.

Is there such a program or combination of programs that will do this. My first hope is there is a freeware program if not then I will have to purchase one, if it exists.

Hi Steven3! I'm a staunch advocate of JkDefrag, the link is in my signature. Have a careful look at the options it has (is "Sorted Optimization" what you're after?), and if it doesn't let you do exactly what you want, try asking in the JkDefrag Forums.

FPVDriF6 Thank YOU for the tip. I've downloaded the program & will try it out foe about 1 week before I come to judge it. I will play with it & see if it does what I would like it to do.
