I have a WD 160GB external HD, I use it all for storage Windows isn't on it or anything besides a bunch of movies.

For some reason when I turn it on it lags my PC horribly and I cant open any programs/files; this happens whether I turn it on after I boot up windows or if I have it on while booting up. As soon as I unplug the externalHD the lag goes away.

I think it has something to do with me overloading its capacity, but it lags so badly when I plug it in I cant even access the folder to delete some files. How can I fix this?
