computer shutdown now has start scren

hi just found you, hope to get hep I am at work risking getting caught on internet, but computer down and need help b/c i can't use mine! SO here is deal , my computer sometime on it's own free will shut down, i came home had need to pick a way to start due to improper shut down. i choose normal it keep rebooting to same screen, so i finally got to a system restore, no points available. so i did system recovery, was thrilled didn't not lose programs. but when i shut down restarted to make sure all was well, it did it again with the pick a start way normal safe, ect. i tried normal. i am back to begining , didn't start up. please please help me. thank you

Hi cowgirlriding..

There should be several options on the screen where you choose how you want to start the machine. Have you tried "Safe Mode" and "Last known good configuration"?
