i bought my computer with 180GB of hard drive but now i have only 1.79GB . i have erased most of the documents and pictures but only get a small amount of memory . i have done the disc clean thing and not much memory comes back on . please help

Have you tried running any temporary file cleaners? Try downloading ATF cleaner.

Also you are talking about 180GB of Hard Drive Space, but then you are mentioning Memory. This is confusing, could you perhaps clarify a little? If you could give us information on where you are looking, it would help

Where are you finding the information? Are you using a program to look at it or from in the My Computer section of Windows?

yes i downloaded ATF cleaner and used it . it cleared 300mb i think. i goto my computer and hover the arrow over the C drive and says 3.98GB free space and 179GB total size

Lets take a look at what is installed on your computer. Please download HiJackThis, install it, and double-click on the HiJackThis.exe icon. On the first screen click on Open the Misc Tools Section...On the next screen, click on the Open Uninstall Manager button under system tools. Click Save List and post a copy of the log here. My hunch was some kind of recovery software. That doesn't appear to be the case though.

Don't forget to update your java. Do you have any weird folders taking up space?

i updated java , but i dont know what is weird files and what is not

I had a similar problem once, I found this weird folder under My Computer > C: > 1 (The folder was just called 1). I had a thread about it, you can read it here.

Does that help any?
