To preface I do not have the OEM recovery CDs.

Basically I have a Toshiba A75 series and the sound does not work.

The AC97 sound driver shows as working properly but the Device Volume is greyed out, and I cant test the sound.

OK here is what has been tried.

Reinstalled Toshiba drivers - nope

Installed latest Realtek drivers - nope

Restarted sound service within the registry -nope

Check "physical" issues (volume turned down, keyboard fn sound key etc) - nope

Reinstalled XP from a fresh format and reinstalled Toshiba drivers - nope

Any ideas?

I have been reading about problems with the Toshiba A75 sound on other forums. The fix seems to be sending the laptop back to toshiba and having them replace the motherboard.

Other forums with the same problem.

Heres a forum that does correct the problem for someone. I do not know if it will work for you. About halfway down BONK refers to a kellys Korner reg file.

The kellys korner registry edits page.
