I have a WINXP, geforce go fx 5600, HP laptop.

It has given me some troubles before, but nothing I couldn't fix. Now I'm at a loss. I start up my laptop one day, and this is what I get.

SMART Failure predicted on hard disk 0: fujitsu MHT206AT - (PM).

Warning immediate back up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent. Press f1 to continue.

When I press f1, it says..
Media test Failure, check cable.
Exiting PXE Rom.

Realtek RTC8139 fast Ethernet.
Along with some other letters and number...

It stays on that screen, I've tried to press every key, and after a while it just starts to beep every key I press...

Please tell me what to do. =/

Howdy:

That error usuually means your hdd has bit the big one and now the system is trying to boot via a network setting.

Do you have your XP cd handy? If so, boot using the cd and go into the Recovery Console. From there, run a chkdsk /r command.

If it says it can't or can't find the hdd, you get to go out and buy a new one.
