Good morning, I usually leave my home PC on 24/7. On the morning of 10/21 I saw a few Addjuggler(I think) windows open and a new, what looked to be an antivirus toolbar (something 7.1) in my Internet Explorer window. I ran my Mcafee virus scan and it deleted about 10 files and quarantined a file called winshow.exe. McAfee also starting popping up occasionally saying a Trojan had been deleted. I also ran Lavasoft Ad-aware which deleted a handful of files. I rebooted the PC and it took forever to come back on. When it did, all kinds of pop-ups from unknown sources were showing up saying my PC was only 40% protected, or that it was infected and asking if I want to download antivirus protection.

I then disconnected from the internet and ran Mcafee and Ad-aware again, I think each deleted 1 file this time. I rebooted but it still took forever. I'm afraid of hooking back up to the internet.

I've been on-line at work Googling "winshow.exe" and everything I've been reading is kinda scaring me...especially the stuff about backdoor trojans accessing my personal finance information. I came across you guys and decided to register.....hopefully you can help allay the fears and help fix the problem. What info do you need from me to get started....it looks like a Hijackthis file might be needed, what is that and if I need it, how would I get it? Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to GTG.

1. Download combofix at http://www.techsuppo...Bs/ComboFix.exe
2. Double-click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not click on combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Please read this topic and post your HijackThis log here when ready.
