SwingKid02,

I will look at this tomorrow morning and hopefully have a fix up for you before I head out for the morning.

Sorry for the delay, but I dont want to look at this while my eyes are half open :tazz:

This is odd... only hijack this can find that file... I can't find it manually I did a search through Windows with allowing for hidden and system files and without. But again it showed up on the hijack log. I even copied and pasted straight from the log into the text window.

Hi, Jfcap has asked me to help him out with this thread.

I'd like you to do the following:

Run HijackThis and put a check mark next to the following entry, if present:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Vsl] C:\WINDOWS\Obl.exe

then open up My Computer and delete the following file, if present:

C:\WINDOWS\Obl.exe

Next, enable searching within hidden files as shown here

Next I'd like you to search for the following files on your harddrive and delete them if present:

desktop.htm or desktop.html
popup.htm or popup.html

and delete them if found.

then reboot and post a fresh log file, and whether or not you were able to find those files

Completed as instructed... did not find obl.exe or the desktop files but did find and delete a popup.html file.

Thanks for helping us on this one... it's been an adventure so far.

Swingkid02,

There is one more fix to this problem, please follow the directions below:

Once you have performed the big cleanup(Which you have), each of the other Users on the System needs to be signed in to clean up their desktop and regain the right click.

I have included another vbs to do this. It is named Other Profiles Regfix.vbs

Have each User sign in and run Other Profiles Regfix.vbs
Open C:\ (Go to Start>Run and type C: Press enter) and Open the C:\Spywad folder. Double click on Other Profiles Regfix.vbs

Explorer will be ended and that user's active desktop registry entries will be repaired. Explorer will be restarted.

You will need to do this step for every user account

To reset your wallpaper, open Display Properties > Desktop Tab. Choose a Wallpaper and apply. Close Display Properties. To see the change, click on the desktop and press F5.

Let me know if that works Swingkid02,

Justin

I'm sort of worried that I've lost contact with you guys.... Are you still working on my problem or are you unsure of a solution?
