I am trying to install the 2008 edition of Panda Antivirus and I have the same problem I had last year, but that solution no longer works.

I used this information last year

http://www.geekstogo...lem-t82459.html

I did that, and it still says I have PC-Cillin. I had to uninstall my previous panda, it wouldn't load after it updated and I just decided to uninstall and upgrade. Now I have the 08 and can't get it to work. What should I do.

Sorry, but I found that earlier and it won't work either. Trend Micro is no longer in the Start-> Programs so I can't access any uninstall files or the PCCTool.exe it mentions. It also isn't in the add/remove programs list.

I ended up getting the old remedy to work after trying 4 more times.

Boot the Panda disk until you get past the language selection, and then to the selection or info menu. At this point, search your pc for the file AVDETECT.INI This should be in C: documents and settings/temp area. There might be several copies of this file. Delete all of the smaller ones (they go to the recycle bin so still safe if you need them). Open with - notebook and delete all references to Pc-Cillan (while leaving the names with the numbers). Click Save as. Search again for the files. Now delete the larger one (this one has the Pc-Cillin on it and will go to recycle bin). Now close the search window and hit the next or continue button on Panda -- while crossing fingers, toes, and eyes. Maybe it will work like mine did!
