I just installed SP2 on my Dell Lapton Inspiron D600. I have resisted SP2 since updates always cause problems. Now when I turn on the computer I do not get the Logon Icon instead it goes directly to my Desktop. Also when I close the lid it does shut down but when I open it the box that was there before, that had a place to enter the password, does not come up. It just starts up again. What did SP2 do to my computer?? I have not changed my settings but obviously it did something. Please help. Thanks.

If you only have one user account set up, the behaviour of SP2 is to bypass the login screen unless your account is password-protected. Either set a password or create a second user account if you want the login welcome screen to always appear before the Desktop will load.

If you want the login screen to appear when you close/re-open the lid, go into Control Panel->Power Options->Advanced (tab).
Place a tick where it says "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby"
This will cause the login screen to appear even if you didn't set a password.

I should have mentioned that I already checked the Advanced Tab under Power Options & I have always have the Password Box checked. It is still checked but when I close the lid and open it again the Logon/Password Box no longer appears. SP2 obviously is ignoring this option box. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
