RealPlayer is a serious resource hog, and I've not been using it for 5 years. It doesn't surprise me it has security vulnerabilities; it actually behaves like spyware with all the popups windows. Yeh, I have never let RealPlayer on my computer and have deleted any installation of it if found on a new computer. It definitely has a bad malware history.

Use VLC Media Player. Plays every format (except Real) without the need for external codecs, light on the system (it takes about 15 MB from your precious hard drive space), it's open source, and available in almost any language.
