When I use my lap top with the cat 5 cable plugged in it can't find the Internet. It says local only no Internet. Is this because I kept my wireless switch on at the same time my cat 5 was plugged in? Sometimes a repair will work but other times it won't. Working with just wireless has no problem. Thanks

They won't both work at the same time on the same system. Whichever connects first gets priority while the other one just won't work. You need to turn off the wireless adapter on the laptop before connecting via ethernet. That's why wireless laptops have a wireless on/off switch.

Yes, whenever you want to use Ethernet, disable your wireless because it will get confused.
