I am unable to access Yahoo and update any Windows or Microsoft items. I thought at first my laptop was infected but after a week of help from racenutalways he assured me my computer was not infected and refered me to this post. When I try to access Yahoo or Windows update the computer sits there for 2 minutes and then comes up with an error that says web page can not be found. :)

I think I should tell you if you haven't figured out by now I'm a so-so computer person. When they say ping, I'm not sure what they are talking about. I went to the link and downloaded the things in the article and restarted the computer. I do want to add that as far as getting to other search engines I can go to Google or others, just not yahoo and no matter what I can't get downloads from Windows or Microsoft. I did check the add-ons. I know I'm not much help but I'm trying!!!!!

no matter what I can't get downloads from Windows or Microsoft.

are you getting a error when you try windows update

when you say yahoo do you mean yahoo.com...yahoo mail..or yahoo messenger

make sure you have Java installed and activated. You can get the latest JVM from sun.com. If that doesn't help, make sure you delete all Yahoo cookies. This could be caused by a corrupted cookie.

http://filehippo.com...d_java_runtime/

get update java from there

Mr. Freeze I would like to thank you for your help but I have decided this is over my head and I've taken my computer to someone to see if they can fix it. Once again thank you for your help.
