Get one?

It depends on what stuff you are trying to put on the computer.

If you have programs you want to install and you have the CD's to install these programs, then you'll have to get an external CD drive and hook it up.

You may also be able copy files and folders (if you have data CD's) onto a friends computer, then copy from there onto a USB flash drive or similar...

You could download the files again.

If it has a USB port, then you should look at getting an external DVD Burner that you can connect via USB, that way when you're at home you can "dock" the UMPC and burn stuff, copy stuff, load stuff etc...

Also, for the codecs, you can download them from the internet.

So what codec are you trying to get? I find that if you use VLC Media Player, it should take care of everything for you no worries. It comes bundled with pretty much all the codecs you'd ever need, and it's own media player to play everything.

Another similar option is K-Lite Codecs, I personally use the Mega Pack, it's great.
