OK, Joshua, I'm going to bed since you haven't come back on yet. I will be on tomorrow to help you finish cleaning your system (or, rather, today... just later today :tazz: )

Well...I tried!!!! And I missed you, truly!!
...hmmm tried to insert some hearts here..won't let me...

Totally locked out of IE for 36 hrs....once i 'Fixed' from HJT, I was busily following your instructions re rebooting into Normal mode for RegisterLite, right after Safe Mode and Explore use for removing SearchMaid, etc., none of which were there....

...went back to do it again, since i had done it following the pattern in a different thread, following your directions, (your last entry didn't mention Safe Mode...not sure if that did it),....

...and when I logged in, lost access to IE and was blocked until now...all i did just now, after confirming that i couldn't get to IE, I cleaned up my desktop, and EMPTIED THE TRASH... then i was able to get on as you can see...

...messages received in address bar
res://c:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm

and when a 'casino' screen pops up, the address is http://eager-search....online pharmacy

so...I think I'm back, although i have to go to work tonight, tomorrow, and will be out of town from thurs-sunday...i guess i'll have to start over, but rather tired, and not sure if i'll have IE access from the other account, that is...i'll have to run logs, Adaware....etc, following your directions, but will have to come over to this account, or worse yet to another comp at work inorder to chat with you....

Michelle...ever think about exploring outside of Texas??? Joshua

I'll PM you my e-mail address. :tazz:

Also, when you said your Task Manager wasn't working - were the tabs just gone?

Nevermind about the tabs being gone...I just looked back at your log and this nasty little bugger right here: kernels32.exe is the one that disabled Task Manger.

Right, kernels32....taskmgr working currently.

and now where are we???

Regarding the two accounts, there is a third that i'll try to delete; never used, might actually house some old problems.

So, how's it work re two xp accounts; if i run Adaware, for example...should i run it from both accounts; can we really deal with an account separately from the others...doesn't that allow malware to migrate over from the one where fixes weren't applied. I assume I'll have to rerun from here, new HJT log etc...right?

any new insights since last messaging two days ago???

and I may not have IE access from the other account...

I'm off to run some errands, including a down-payment on a new system, set up to do some of the work myself, etc...back in a few hours (its 3 here, back around 7pm)...joshua

We will get one account clean before moving onto the next. Otherwise this thread will just get crazy and cause me to lose my mind...and since I'm helping you work on your system I don't think you want that to happen ;) : :tazz:

Whichever account you posted the last HiJackThis from is the one will be cleaning until it's done. Before I can suggest anymore course of action I need to know what you have and have not done concerning my previous instructions and I need to see a new HiJackThis log. ;)

Hi, by the way, each time i click on this AddReply box, the Taskbar changes and a Message prints from IE re ...casino, pharmacy, hydrocodone...etc...

...okay, here's what i've done...but it was 48 hrs ago...happy to redo if you prefer...

*deleted wp.exe and .bmp
*Removed iguard, virtual, search...none found
*Safe mode....delete search,virtual,log files....none found
*back to normal, ran Hoster, did NOT run cleanup, did NOT successfully run Active scan (no log file produced)
*sent HJT log to you sunday
*disabled MS Antispy, albeit not the way u told me to
*Taskmgr to delete netce,ca,cb, xpsys,kernels
*ran HJT and FIXED as instructed
*ran Killbox and deleted....

So, i'm not being very complete, i realize...sorry...I'll run cleanup, Active scan if you ask...before, was wary re no backup, and unable to exec Active scan and produce a log

Here's current logfile...

Hi, I believe i'm off to bed...have to get up at 3am...and at work all day....not back until about 8pm tomorrow night...

...re the HJT log, one thing, Norton/Symantec is not working and i've not been able to uninstall it...says i'm not an administrator...any ideas, and i don't mean to distract you...just thought that could be involved or at least cluttering up the hjt log considerably.

And seriously, I would appreciate knowing what type of donations you've received in the past...perhaps the range, or the average if you don't mind.

night for now...joshua

and how do i enable the emoticons? check doesn't seem to work...

Hmmm, since we deleted those files with Killbox and they are still there, then there is something else hiding...

Please do this for me:

Please right click HERE and select save target as. Save it to the desktop and double-click on it. If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run. When the scan is finished, it will create a logfile on the desktop. Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.

Had to lower security via symantec before I could right click on your HERE.

MS Antispy blocked its execution until i allowed the vbs

And the execution was stopped cold with the message 'windows script host access is disabled on this machine'

Wow, yay that's always fun...ok let's try this:

*Open HijackThis.
*Click on "None of the above, just start the program"
*Click Config (bottom right)
*Click Misc Tools
*make sure that both boxes beside "Generate StartupList Log" are checked:

List all minor sections(Full)

and

List Empty Sections(Complete)

Click "Generate StartupList Log".
Click "Yes" at the prompt

It will produce a NotePad Page. I need you to copy the entire contents of that page and paste it here.

hi..my uneducated theory is that, in addition to something lurking in a unexpected place, i need to rerun the prior instructions from Safe mode as doing them in Normal mode and then waiting 36 hours left me open for reinfestation...also concerned that some of these are shared from the other account on my system and that the work is needed there too....just thinking...I apologize...joshua
