When I close certain programs, most notably microsoft money (there are others, but I can't remember them all right now), at some point in the process, I get an error messgae saying the program has stopped working and needs to be closed. Mostly annoying, but I don't think this should have to be.

If the program is older than Vista (ie an older version of Money made for Windows XP) it may not be Vista compatible. There are many older applications which won't run properly on Vista unless the application specifically claims to be Vista compatible. Most of these incompatibility issues will be encountered mainly with old device-drivers but it's an issue with many applications also.

Very often you can solve the problem with older applications (but not drivers) by switching them to run in 'compatibility mode'.
You do this by right-clicking the shortcut, select 'Properties', then click the 'Compatibility' tab.
Put a tick in the tick-box "Run this program in compatibility mode for...", and select "Windows XP SP2" in the drop-down list.
Now click 'OK'

That works for most of the programs. MS Money is the 2007 version and claims to be Vista compatible. Any suggestions for it?
