I'm currently having problems with my explorer.exe.

My explorer.exe appears and disappears along with my desktop(It's quite annoying..)
Also in the task manager, the memory usage of explorer.exe uses more memory then usual.

I have a Windows XP Home Edition disk If needed.

Can anyone help me find a solution?(Also can someone provide the program that shows everything thats runs on my pc? So it can help you find the problem, and something I may have to delete.)

Looking at the Process Explorer screenshot, you killed the Print Spooler (spoolsv) and Windows Management Instrumentation. While the former is required only for printing, the later (WMI) is quite important to the system. The Elder Geek recommends that it be left running: http://www.theelderg...rumentation.htm

I suspect that the improvement you noticed was due to simply reducing the overall system load at the time. There are likely better candidates for termination. My explorer.exe is right now happly running at 23.6k with no problems. More important is CPU time for processes.

Explorer is actually quite robust, but it is a user process and has to compete for resources. If in fact, you are having memory limitation problems, setting the page file to 'System managed size" usually helps.

I have learned from one of our malware specialists that there is definitely a problem with your log. It has been moved to the mqalware section. Please follow through with your malware helper before returning to this thread.

Trying 'workarounds' for a malware problem often just results in further problems.

After hours(a couple days also) of working on my pc, and experimenting. I finally figured out, and fixed my problem! Everything is now working fine! I discovered there was a file hidden in my System32 folder, it was named pmnnk.dll(Which is a filthy piece of ad-ware.. lol I removed that, and now things are working like normal.) Now all I have to do, is thoroughly use my scanners to detect anything else that's lurking around on my computer! THEN BAM! VICTORIOUS! hahah I love that!

This case is solved!
