I'm looking for a program, freeware preferably, that will scan my computer and check the versions of software installed, then show me a list of the programs that have new a version available for download. I have used RadarSync but I would like freeware if possible.

Try using:
Filehippo.com Update Checker - http://www.filehippo.../updatechecker/
AppSnap - http://appsnap.genotrance.com/
UpdateStar - http://www.updatestar.com/

Enjoy

P.S: I personally use FileHippo.com's Update Checker

UpdateStar works very well, and it can be put on a USB Drive and used portably. AppSnao is simple and stand-alone but it had a few problems with downloading and installing some of the apps. The FileHippo Update Checker I use, but it's database of programs that it checks is limited so I wanted a program that does the same function but with a bigger selection.

So I'm guessing you'll use UpdateStar, then?

P.S: I agree, Filehippo's Update Checker has a limited selection of programs in its database.
