I have been searching for a solution to this. I get the "Windows Explorer has encountered an error and must close" often around the same time I get an error message with Doc Watson. It freezes my system and I have to turn the computer power off in order to re-boot. Program loading has also been slow. I am running Trend-Micro PC-Cillin 2007.

Can you help?

Thanks!

The 'Dr Watson' (drwatson.exe) is not part of the problem. It's normal for Dr Watson to "kick in" whenever a program crashes (eg explorer.exe). It's the job of the Dr.Watson module to try and 'debug' the error, or in other words to try and discover what caused the problem so it can generate a report for the built-in fault-reporting utility which you can optionally send to Microsoft.

The following page may help with your Explorer problem: http://www.helpwithw...er-crashes.html

Thanks very much. I have spent the afternoon and evening going through your malware steps. It appears I have a critter or two lurking which may explain a lot of my difficulties. I will post on the other forum when I get my logs all organised. Thanks very much!
