My friend had burnt a movie dvd for me. It is running in my friends' PCs but not in mine. It is not even being detected. What can be the problem? ((Other DVDs of same company are running fine))

Maybe your drive cannot read that type of disc (some drives can read both formats, some can't) ie DVD-R or DVD+R. Some drives can only read one of those, not both.
