Put a 6gb file on a 4gb DVD R Disk?

I have a slideshow it's in avi format, and I need to have it on 1 disk, it's 6.15 gb's how can I compress so it will go on the 4.12 gb R disk?

You can import it into 'Windows Movie Maker' and save it as a 'wmv' file which uses compression, though I couldn't say if that would make the file small enough.

Alternatively, leave the file 'as is' and buy a 'double layer' DVD burner with compatible burning software and put the file on a double-layer DVD.

I got it working.

It turned out tob e 5 gb, but see it was only 29 minutes long. So It fitted on the dvd r disk perfectly.
