Hiya,
I'm as ignorant as it gets about this sort of thing, but Nero will not burn any DVDs. It still burns CDs, I think, though I haven't tested that in a while either. I wish I knew what else to say... it's an internal device, though one bought a little over a year after I bought the computer (2005 for the computer, late in 2006 for the burner), but I had pretty computer savvy friends help both build the computer and install the burner... I have a partitioned hard drive (C for system stuff, D for all else). I use DVD+Rs.
Uhh... feel free to ask for whatever additional information you might require. I know little of this.
Thankyou in advance! Here's the log file from Nero.

Are you sure the burner is compatible with DVD+R? (check)
Using high speed discs on a non high-speed burner perhaps? (check)
Using a brand of disc the burner has never written to before? (try another brand)

I've used DVD+Rs of the very same brand before with success numerous times and am using the very same stack of dvds now as then. It is only recently they have ceased to work.

(And yeah, the packaging of the DVD Writer said that it would do either +r or -r. I did check that)

Also, have you checked to see if you have the latest update for Nero (http://nero.com/). Also have you checked to see that your specifying the correct drive when you burn? Sometimes using a flash drive will cause conflicts with drive letters and can cause some interesting errors.

I note from your log you're burning at 12 speed. Have you tried burning at slower speeds? Your burner may have lost its ability to burn at higher speeds and in conjunction with most mechanical equipment that wears out, it slows down as it ages.

Hi, sorry I haven't replied in a long time... various things got in the way... slowing the speed didn't work, unfortunately. I'm also pretty sure I'm specifying the right drive... I even unmounted all virtual drives and the like to be sure. No other burning program I've tried using works either. I'm suspecting something may be wrong with the burner itself... should I be posting a topic in a different forum in such a case?
Thankyou all of you for your suggestions anyway. It is appreciated. :)

After reading your subsequent posts I tend to agree it could well be the dvd-burner that's developed a fault. One of those things that only fitting a replacement will confirm --- luckily they no longer cost a small fortune.
