here are the parts:

Abit IC7-Max, P4 3.0 Ghz chip, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB, 1 Gig Corsair Ram.. DVD, Burner, Sata HD

Okay I put together the motherboard/chip/graphics card/and 1 Ram thingy and hooked up the start/restart button and started the computer all the fans are running... motherboard lights up but my monitor give me a message that says "monitor self test, your monitor is working correctly, Check Computer Power and Monitor Cable"... i cant even see the start up i cant get into BIOS... what should i do??

I tried resetting the CMOS... and all the components are plugged in correctly.. please help me!!!!

the monitor works, i just hooked it up to my labtop and it works fine....
the lights on the motherboard and the fan on the motherboard are working
the cpu fan is spinning
the video card fan spinning
theres two lights on the motherboard the manual says one is for the motherboard being connected to the power supply and the other is for the computer being on... both lights are on when i turn the power on

are you booting the system off a floppy or the harddrive? do you have a OS installed ? have you fdisk and formatted the harddrive?

i have one harddrive connected w/ os connected on IDE 1... but it doesnt even get that far... i just keep seeing that bouncing message on the monitor

You should really remove everything from the case and bench test it with just the CPU, memory, and video card attached. If it still won't post you've probably got a bad power supply or motherboard.
