2000 server is not routing ip-cant get on the inet

Hi, I have a machine set up with windows 2k server-and it has suddenly stopped acessing the internet! the ip must have been mucked up somewhere along the line- I have tried the repair function-but still no joy. I think it may be a virus-just dont know! I dont want to have to reinstall everything-but i think i may hacve to. this is the 3rd machine in 2 weeks ive come across with this problem. all on different os. please someone help!
