No, it can not. Other browsers do not have the about:config.

You can also get the Fasterfox extension for performance and network tweaks from:
-->https://addons.mozil...e...ox&status=4

faster fox does not do the nglayout.initialpaint.delay tweak though..
and it set the pipelining.maxrequests to 8...I have mine set to 12...anymore than that can cause you problems at some sites..

Make Firefox Faster

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll
down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time.
When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really
speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to any number around 5-12. This
means it will make X requests at once, depending on the number you put in.

NOTE: A recommended number is either 8 or 12.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New > Integer.
Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now.

IMPORTANT: Some small sites may block your connection because it DOES take up more bandwidth than usual. Take note.

Nice tip dude, where'd you find it? I found one here, Dated Dec. 2004;

I wish I could say it works. It doesn't. I try it and an IE window opens and then doesn't connect. It tells me that the navigation was cancelled.

OK, I'm an idiot and when I added the Integer "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" I left the " in the name. How do I remove them or does it matter if they are there?
