I want to convert VHS tapes to DVDs. Looking on the back of my computer I see an input for an S-video cable. Looking in device manager under control panel, I see Legacy Video Capture Devices listed under Sound, video, and game controllers. Does it appear that I have the hardware I need, or do I need to buy a video capture card?

I am not sure if you have the right stuff or not. I think you do. I am replying because I also got into conversion of my tapes. I found that an external converter is better than using the computer to convert. I am using a pinnacle system. I also found that you will require a lot of HD space and a fast CPU. My comp is on the edge of minimum requirements. I have to disconnect from the internet and shut down as many programs as possible.

Whatever you do, good luck and let us know how you make out.

Please wait for others to respond regarding the s- video.
