I am having a lot of difficulty installing Knights of the Old Republic II:The Sith Lords on my PC. I installed and played it successfully before with no errors, and uninstalled it a few months ago.

I tried to reinstall it yesterday and today, but everytime it got to Sounds.bif i got the following error message

Feature Transfer Error
Component:Default Component
D:\data2.cab
Error: Data Error:Cyclic Redundancy Check

After this the installer closes itself.

I have read other pages about people who have had the same problem. I turned off my firewall, closed all other programs, and tried cleaning the CD. I also tried copying the cd to my hard drive, but i still get the same problem with data2.cab. Do I have to get a brand new copy of KOTOR2? Please Help!

how scratched is your cd? CRC errors can't normally be gotten around. Sometimes a different cd drive may allow you to get around the crc error or read a cd in poor condition.

I got the same thing on the sound file and when i tried it on my friends laptop it got the same result. I'm wondering if it didn't work on the laptop because its a laptop or just won't work in general. I'm going to try it on other computers but i don't know what will happen. The disc has had scratches but Ive cleaned the majority of them off. However there is one scratch i haven't been able to get off the disc, and it is a large scratch. Any ideas? I really love this game and I want to play it.
