Help! Running XP and Office 2000. When trying to start word 2000, the hourglass keeps running and I have to use CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the task manager. Two instances of word are there and say not responding. I couldn't find any normal.dot file on the computer. If I start winword.exe /a, then word starts. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired several times and still have this problem. Any ideas? This is a new Dell computer with XP.

Hello Phoebee and welcome to geeks to go!

It sounds like there is an add-in/template problem in Word. First try fixing the Normal document template:
Fixing your Normal.dot file

As for add-ins, you should be able to go to Tools | Templates and Add-Ins... and manage the add-ins from there.

Please let us know if you have any problems.

Regards,

Ax
