I resubmitted my request because it's been 3 days and no one has replied.

For a while I've been having playback problems with Windows Media Player. I think I have version 11. I've noticed that when I pause the video, the sound becomes delayed. And, the more times I pause the video, the worse the voice synchronization becomes. So, it's like watching those old Kung Fu movies, where you see the guy's mouth moving but hear him talking about 5 seconds afterwards, due to the poor dubbing.

I decided to download the free Div player from Divx.com, so that I would have an alternate video player. Well, I had to change the aspect ratio to view my videos correctly so they didn't look fat and wide. I adjusted the aspect ratio for videos on the Divx player. However, when I went to play another video on WMP, my videos had changed aspect ratio within Windows Media Player. There was no way to change the aspect ratio within WMP, so I had to go back to the Divx player application and try to change it there. However, I could not get the change to work for WMP. So, now WMP is messed up. Vides are fat and wide. They look normal on the Divx player.

There are some other issues I'm having as well. About 6 months ago, I installed a second hard drive. With my original hard drive, I had the Power DVD player that came with my computer package. However, this application "disappeared" when I made the new hard drive the master. I didn't mirror image the new hard drive, as there were problems on the old hard drive. I still have the old hard drive installed and it works. When I would put in a CD or DVD to play on the old HD, my computer used to prompt me to choose which program to play with or start with Power DVD/CD player. Now, I have to choose WMP to get anything to play, or it defaults to WinAmp. I installed WinAmp because of a feature about it that I like and made it the default player. However, I cannot seem to get WinAmp to show videos, even though it has shown videos quite easily in the past with the old hard drive.

Is there some way to fix WMP to stop this problem with the voice/video (dis)synchronization? I never had this problem with WMP on the old hard drive. I don't know what's causing it with the new hard drive. How can I get my WMP to play videos normally and not wide and distorted? It feels like I've messed up my WMP. I tried the 16:9, 4:3 (TV interface) and a custom setting 5:8. These changes occur on Divx player, but not within WMP. So, whatever I've done, I can't seem to find the way back to normal settings in WMP.

One more thing: I always install the updates for my computer when prompted. I visited the free codecs site and installed XP_Codec_Pack_2.2.0. I will try to view a video again after this.

Re-submitting will not get it answered faster, but will more than likely cause confusion. If you have a post more than 3 days old, please post help in the Waiting Room. Requesting mod to merge both.
