I'm looking at a PC and it basically displays a blank screen when it boots into Windows XP Pro. It displays the BIOS, the loading screen but as soon as it time to display Windows it just gives me a blank screen.

I've tried last known good config and that did nothing, i've tried VGA mode and that does nothing. It'll boot into safe mode without any problems.

I removed the driver in safe mode, restarted the PC and it works fine. When I install the latest driver from the Intel website the screen goes blank when it starts updating the drivers. I've also tried installing the original HP driver of the driver recovery CD and after a restart I get the blank screen again.

I've tried changing the refresh rate in save mode but that doesn't help, i've even tried system restore and restoring Windows back to when it was working....twice.

Have I overlooked something? :) :) :)

Graphics card is a Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS 910GML Express and it's got a crappy SoundMAX integrated sound card.

EDIT:

Just tried it with a monitor, with the drivers installed I get no display on the monitor without them installed a get a display on the monitor.

EDIT 2:

Ran SFC and then reinstalled the latest drivers but that didn't work.

Have been having a discussion with JSntgRvr this afternoon in the Trusted Techs forum, i've tried everything even reinstalling Windows. Windows worked fine until I installed the graphics driver then I got the black screen again.

I've logged it and a engineer should be out in a day or two.

Just in case anyone else has a problem like this, I replaced the motherboard and that solved the problem.
