ok, I'm going to attempt to give a clear picture to my issue.
If you get lost, please ask for clarification. I'm at your mercy..


System was upgraded about 2 yrs ago. From Win98SE, to WinXP Pro

C:\ was partitioned, at that time, old OS data, was on one partition,
while the XP Pro Complete Install, on the other partition.

I also have two other drives, as slaves, D:\ 60G Slave-1 E:\ 3G Slave-2

C:\ is only 6 G. with a (whopping) 290Mg left.

When I attempted to join the two partitioned drives together again, I learned
at some point, I'd already done it. But, I don't think I did it right. I also
don't recall even doing it. (have ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder, and brain injury.)

I know significan't memory can be released, if I could just remove OLD OS programs from the registry. But, am somewhat reluctant to arbratrairily delete certain files... such as shared .dll's...

Allow me to explain. When deleting an old program, which can not be seen via Add/Remove, or through any menu's or Windows Explorer, so was done through Reg Edit, I would do a search on the string My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
When an instance of a program was identified in the right side window, I'd delete it. Eventually, I'd come to the program folder on the left side, and delete it too, then, hit F3 again ... eventually I'm taken to the shared DLL's folder, where in some cases there are quite a number of shared DLL's for a specific program, as in Intuit - Quicken. I am reluctant to delete each identified DLL (35) some of which end in .exe, hlp, .txt, .key, .cnt. & .dat
I am unsure whether I should delete all identified in this folder... and am hoping someone here, with significant knowledge can assist me.. please! I'm desperate! I MUST, MUST, MUST, reinstate some space on the C:\ drive, or, I'm going to have to reinstall WinXP Pro, which I am not at all familure with this process.

I also need to do a disk defrag, which hasn't been done for some time, (since upgrade actually) and restore points are of no help as I have only one available due to space required.

P.s.
I run A/V (AVG), spywareblaster, and spybot search & distroy. Also have a router and AlphaShield.

I await an answer with baited breath.. ;-)
