I ran Ad-Aware, Spybot, CWshredder and AVG ant-virus. Was hoping a geek could check and make sure this is clean. I can't thank you guys enough.

Hello ACGord, Welcome to the Geeks to go Forums. My Name is Jfcap, and I will be helping you clean your system.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions incase you need to boot into safe mode, where your internet will be unavailable.

Lets get started!

You are running HiJackThis from the desktop. Please create a folder for HiJackThis and move the program into the new folder. Please do this before continuing.

ou have a CoolWebSearch infection.

Download CWShredder here to its own folder.

Update CWShredder

* Open CWShredder and click I AGREE
* Click Check For Update
* Close CWShredder

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = about:blank

Thank you so much. Ok, moved HJT, ran a scan and fixed the entries you listed. rebooted in safe mode and didn't find EE.exe in Add/remove programs. But I did find a file in windows explorer C:\PROGRAM FILES\EE and deleted it. I was going to the system folder and then the computer froze. I had to cold boot. I then ran CWShredder in safe mode but it found nothing. After a reboot I ran clean up. Than rebootted again and ran HJT here is the logfile. I did notice while I was in safe mode that New.Net Domains 4.94, MediaLoads, And Shockware seemed suspect.

ACGord,

Your log looks clean to me!

Are you still noticing any problems while your computer is running?

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
  • Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
  • AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
