Need to know what backweb program does on windows XP ?It does not appear on my delete programs list. Is it part of another program? I am getting runner error (Invalid backweb application id 1940576) at startup. Any help appreciated.Thanks BigBob57

The backweb.exe process waits in the background until it can make a successful internet connection. When it detects a connection it will attempt to download and install any updates that are available for your system. If this process causes problems for your system terminate the process

automatically detects an internet connection and downloads any available updates. Typical on Compaq and HP PC's but not restricted to those OEM's. Resource hog and often causes malfunctions.

If you need help in removing it, please post in the malware forum. There they can assist in making sure it has been properly removed.
