Hey OT,
How are you? Thank again for the help.Having a problem with my MSN explorer and sometimes my Internet Explorer after i got rid of that highjacker Notify DLL.I tried reinstalling MSN and Internet Explorer like you said,but no better results.I talked to Verizon DSL,but there not much help,they tell me i need more resources to run MSN and that B.S.,because i run AOL fine it runs faster than MSN and that's if i can even get online with it.Wondering if you had a clue what's going on i run those programs you told me to download.If you know anything i can do write me back,THANX.

Not sure what you mean by you lost control of msn homepage. Can you explain?

Is it slow letting you in after you login or slow going to a website?

I know it's supposedly a "useful utility" but it doesn't need to run all of the time. I think it removes the index.dat file which is a good thing once in a while but I'm thinking IE may be wasting time looking for the index.dat file when it boots.

I also see you are running both McAfee and Symantec. I expect one has expired so you really ought to get rid of one of them. Having two just slows things down.

You are also running three toolbars. Do you really need all three? They have to load each time you start IE so again more delay.

Hey RK,
What i get is that it is slow logging into MSN explorer and sometimes if i do get in it slows down at times and this is DSL.I have McAfee firewall and is not expired and also Nortons Antivirus which is not expired.How do i get rid of some of the other things you mentioned thru msconfig if program does not let you shut it or tell me how to do it in highjack this?Also i will try IE FIX.Thanx so far

You may want to disable Norton's from your start ups.
You can do this through Msconfig

You can do the same for Washer,

Don't make any changes to your HJT log yet, Disable Norton's and Washer through msconfig and post back a fresh log when done please

Hey Don,
I see i have a new helper, i disabled window washer from MSCONFIG, but do not want to disable my antivirus after the last episode with a highjacker.
I spoke with Verizon and there no help.My msn home page will not load after getting rid of the last highjacker(notify dll) so verizon said to change home page to another for awhile and then back to original,that did not work i can surf,but trouble loading home page is slow,her is my log.I also tried IE FIX still the same
funny how AOL works fine,but other person said it works off different explorer,guess it's own while MSN works more with the original internet explorer.

Hi Don,
Nobody ever made me change anything in the registry except Old Timer and that was to try to remove Highjacker.I did use spybot one time to try to help me,but never went to registry to change anything.My MSN is working good now and so is my internet explorer.Should i still remove these lines on 06.Iam a little skeptical about any other changes unless i understand it better.Bear with me i know alot,but obviously not enough to fix certain things.Thanks for your patience and let me know more about what i've mentioned.

Hey Don,
Once and awhile my MSN home page is hrad to load,i'm signed in,but page is slow to load,i can surf at times when this happens and sometimes not able.I downloaded a program called Tune up utilities 2004 a free 30 day trial,is this a good program it seemed to make me see alot of what's going on with the system.My IE is o.k. and my home page is a verizon,same as MSN service.One other question,when you use window washer or spysweeper to clean system does it remove info on home page and maybe why it is slow loading? This will probably be my last post if all stays good,thanx.

Don77 ,one more thing i forgot to ad to post was,what is winlogon.exe,tune-up utilities tells me it's using alot of memory,but i see it's part of the operrating system.Also how' is firefox or mozilla for a browser and can i use both Microsoft IE and either of those?
