Hi,
I would be very grateful if someone out there could help me. This is probably a problem you heard a thousands times. The speed at which my laptops downloads website from the internet has got painfully slow and it takes for ever to open documents such as MS word attached to E-mails. Prior to this problem arising the transfer speed when downloading a document was about 50 KB/Sec now it has dropped to around 7KB/Sec. When I run the virus scan it finds nothing. This is my first time using this website but I seems to be a quality service that is been ran. Therefore I would be grateful for any help on the problem.
Thanking you in advance,
Brendan.

Hello and welcome to GeeksToGo,

I would like you to download and install Ad-Aware. After it has installed, run a complete system scan. Once it has finished it will come to a list of files found. Click on the tab labled "Scan Summary" and check both boxes and click "Next", then "Ok". If it cant remove some files, it will ask to scan the computer upon next boot, do so. Then restart the computer. All of this may take some time. Hope that this helps, and please post back either way good or bad.

It is possibly a spyware issue, but I doubt it.

How are you accessing the internet? Through a router? And is your laptop using a wireless card to access this router? Try updating the firmware/drivers to both the router and wireless card if you can.

Post back with any details of the brands / models of networking devices you are using to connect to the internet.

Thanks guys,
I have tried the following at this stage:
I installed and ran WinsockXPFix for Windows XP/2000/NT
I installed and ran Ad-aware SE
I installed and ran WShredder
I installed and ran Spybot S&D
I installed and ran TDS-3 anti- trojan program.
I got this infromation from reading another thread.
The hardware I'm using is a Linksys wireless ethernet bridge model Wet11, i using this because this laptop has no cardless card and the hotel I'm staying in due to my work has only wireless access. The card in the laptop's PCMCIA port is a netgear 32 bit notebook adaptor 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet card FA511. I don't know is there a routher anywhere in the system in this hotel but my work mate is not having slow internet access on this laptop.
Another thing I notice once was when the laptop was sitting ideal on a webpage. I could hear a sound of pop-up opening but none were appearing and no pop-up were associated with this page I was visting.
This info may be of help to you.
Thanks for your helps.
Brendan,

I have done the following since I last posted.
I ran the online virus scan Panda active scan, which found no virus after taking ages to download.
Next I installed Hijackthis, which ironically download with a speed of 100kb/sec.

Here is the log hopefully some one can see something.

Sorry not too sure what your problem is, but did you update to the latest firmware for the router and the network card particularly?
