Ok first start off my giving me some of your computers specs and the specs of your new and old hardrive............i can guide you through setting up a slave and master on your harddrives........just tell me more information.............to answer your question only with an external HDD............also don't be so intimidated by opening your computer most computers these days are very friendly and easy to understand there setup............with a little guidance you could have installed all of that by yourself........
Anyway get back to me with those specs

Technically it is likely that his new hdd is faster then his old 1 which means it is better off bein set as the master and if u run a program like symantec ghost (which i know is not cheap and is pretty expensive) but im sure there must be free ones out there, he can clone the data from his old to his new which sounds sensible to me.

okay i can buy symantec ghost, it will save me lots of time and money just doing that if its worth it, i just want to check, if i buy and install this program it will copy EVERYTHING, device drivers, preferances/settings, installed programs, saved passwords, various documents and websites inthe my webs folder, and anything else that i neglected to mention?
if it does all that im more than happy to buy it
