Thanks for this forum. I downloaded hijackthis and at least removed stuff like wp: exe and searchmaid but still, of course, blue screen. I get the impression that this trojan is a keylogger so no internet banking for a while. I am a moron amongst geeks so my first question is, do I wait for a day or so for Norton or Spybot or etc. to find a fix? Or, do I follow some interesting and to me complicated instructions involving mucking-around in weird parts of my computer? I liked the idea from a dude in spam, India, whose fix was to delete isp dialers, then re-set them. Well, I liked the idea, but it seemed too simple, but simplicity is often cool. Haven't tried yet .... I've got everything up-to-date with Norton etc but no recognition yet. Spyware blockers(?) all updated and intact I think. Can't recognise the trojan. I was amused by a guy who actually BOUGHT the spyware disabler provided by the source of the infection. Hey, man, 35.99 and it didn't WORK! Surprise, surprise. No need to reply if I am an idiot. Cheers, Mike.
