I recently purchased 2x1gb of Gskills pc3200 value ram and the installation was good, but when I go to see how much mb of ram I have it reads 2046mb and not the 2048mb its suppose to read. My old ram was 2x512 Geil value select and it read at 1024mb, so I was wondering if my Gskill memory was bad. I already ran Memtest86 for 10 cycles and the ram passed, its just annoying me that the 2048mb is not reading out. Is there something wrong with the ram? Should I increase the ddr voltage from 2.7 to 2.8? would that help?

Usually it isn't manufactured to hit an exact 2048MB. My Kingston laptop RAM was the same. It reads 1.99GB.

Do not worry, it isn't a manufacture defect. If it really is a defected RAM module, it would not even show up.
