OK, that sounds good. It's good to know you keep your computer running well. It was my first suggestion because it sounded similar to what a flash infection would do. If you are sure it's not, then we can move on to other things. Just to be sure you don't have something like the Ravmon virus, which options appear in the context menu when you right-click the drive? If there is an option that looks like random characters, I'd suggest you make haste to the malware removal forum.
On we go then, go to
Start | Run, copy-paste the following command, and press
Enter:
cmd /k reg query HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} /s > %temp%\reg.txt && notepad %temp%\reg.txt && del %temp%\reg.txt && exit
Select the text that appears in notepad (
Ctrl-A), copy it (
Ctrl-C), and paste it (
Ctrl-V) in your next response. You can close notepad
and the file will be deleted from the temp directory.
