windows xp is better if you have the hardware to support it....adequate memory, adequate videocard, adequate CPU...if not, I prefer windows 98

Windows ME is essentially windows98 service pack three....in doing it, tho, MS hid certain features from the user....like DOS for instance.

If windows is working, windows me is ok, but fixing ME requires more effort than it should since you have to work around ME's obstacles.

I have found XP to be generally better, but I still perfer 98 over XP sometimes. I have never messed with ME, and everone I know who has ME has problems with it, which is why I never messed with it.

I base my decision (XP vs. 98) on two facts:

1. My hardware capabilites

2. The programs I will be running

I still use a lot of progs that do not like to run on XP, but XP is more user-friendly than 98, so its a lose-lose type of thing for me, so I keep two PCs, a 98 and an XP, to get the best of both worlds.

The battle of the OS' varys greatly between people, as they have different likes/dislikes, preferences, expirences, and etc. Its similar to the battle of car makes if you ask me.

Most people either like WinME or hate it, doesn't seem to be a middle ground. I run WinME on one of my machines and I've never had any problems with it. Its stable and I've had no problems with updating it. I use XP Pro and W2K on other machines but my WinME machine has been very reliable and for the near future, I have no plans on upgrading it.
