Here's the deal: I thought my computer was running fine until my girlfriend got me into playing World of Warcraft. Something about my computer causes it to be unstable. I can only log in to certain characters, the game randomly disappears if I do something like enter water or fly. Sometimes I get an error that says "The exception floating-point invalid operation (0xc0000090) occured in the application at location 0x00699850" and other times it just vanishes. Nothing fixes it. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, patched, run the repair scan, updated my video, sound and chip drivers, and a lot of other things. I have exhausted all of the possible fixes they can think of that would usually resolve these problems. Tech support says they have only been able to produce the problems I'm having on systems that are infected, particularly with a virus (trojan?) called w32.pinfi. I have run all kinds of scans, and nothing gets detected. I am posting here in the hopes that one of you can detect what's going on.

I am running Windows Vista on a Sony Vaio laptop. Processor is Intel Core Duo [email protected] GHertz. Video is Intel 965 Chipset Family.

Tech support is baffled, I am ready to pull my hair out. All I want to do is play World of Warcraft!
