Certain elements in my computer display chinese characters

The clock on the corner for one... it some symbol weird. The names under some icons in the desktop have chinese characters over their names, some programs present the same problem within.

How do I return my system to its regular old self ??

was it always like this...
or if it just started recently...try system restore and go back before the weird behavior started..

no joy...go here for a PDF showing you how to change the default language
