needing to get rid of AZE tool bar

I've tried everything and I simply can't get rid of this stupid search bar---AZE search bar. I've used Webroot and called them twice and have used the Winsok fix to no avail. I really need a simple step-by-step procedure that will work. Can anyone help me here?

Get a copy of winsockxpfix.exe before you do anything. This is just a safety
item in case you can't get on the internet afterwards. You just run it and
things should work OK after it reboots your system.

Remove new.net using their own instructions:

Also download and install ccleaner.exe from http://www.ccleaner.com. Don't let
it clean anything yet.



Now shutdown and reboot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key when you see the PC maker's logo.
Keep tapping until it tells you it is going to Safe Mode or you see the Safe
Mode menu. Select the top option.

Run HijackThis and just do a Scan only. Check the following and then Fix
Checked.

I've downloaded the Winsock fix before and wasn't able to get it to work, but I hadn't done a back up registry . I had just done the fix. When attempting to back it up it has error messages that come up: "Error deleting the files. create new folder? New folder already exists. It mentions about security risks.

So what should I do with that?

WinsockXPFix is only to be used if you can't get on the internet afterwards. I just wanted to make sure you had it before we started. However, with XP SP2 there are alternatives so don't worry about. Just go on with the procedure. Get rid of newdotnet and then do the rest.

Well, I guess I just didn't "think." It's fixed now, and thanks to you there's no more AZE bar. All I had to do, duh, was to check the files that didn't need to be there. So, I checked some others including the AZE bar and .dil file of it, and viola, it's fixed. Hopefully for good for now. Any other suggestions? I have a lot of files now on my desktop, I probably should move them elsewhere.

thanks again, you were a great help! Anothe friend of mine suggested that I download and use Firefox, and I have it and there's no AZE bar or anything else I don't want there ....

I guess I need to improve my instructions. Could I see a new log?

Agree that FireFox is a good browser but you may run into certain sites that just plain won't work with it.

My last email mentioned that it's fixed I believe. (The only thing might be an occasional pop up page that I don't want, but other than that it's fixed. You were a real help. What do you think about me uninstalling Spy Sweeper? I've had problems with it and it's just a trial version. Would uninstalling it prevent me from getting onto the internet? It seems that since it's fixed, this shouldn't make a difference.
