hard disk behaves in strange manner

i have a hard disk which is responding correctly in one pc and not in another pc. what should be the reason ( the strange thing is both pcs have the same configuration )

Forgive me, but what does "responding correctly" actually mean?
A hard drive either responds or it doesn't.
