My Internet Explorer freezes when I launch it unless I have the add-ons disabled. It then can't be closed by clicking on the close button and I have to shut it down using End Task

Sounds like you are on the right track and one of the add-ons is causing an issue. If it is happening in IE7, try resetting your browser by going into Tools | Internet Options, click the Advanced tab, and click the Reset button.
