iBM THINKCENTRE TOWER 2.8GHZ 512MB RAM 40GB HDD XP PRO. The Canon IP 3000 printer worked fine for two months, all of a sudden everytime I try to print a webpage or a document I get a down load page that want to make a file of the document , when I click off I see the message the document failed to print. I went to the control panel clicked on printers and faxes my printer is there but there is a Microsoft xps document writer listed as second printer I know I didn't install this. If I uninstll this will my printer work? This document writer could be causing the problem. Any help would be appreciated thanks edge

If you installed Microsoft .Net Framework v3.0, the XPS Document Writer driver is installed automatically into your 'Printers and Faxes' folder for printing to a file rather than printing to a physical printer.

What's probably happened is that this XPS Document Writer is now the 'default' printer instead of your Canon printer, so when you go to 'File->Print' it sends your document to the wrong printer driver. It's easy to fix:

1. Open 'Control Panel' (classic view).
2. Click "Printers and Faxes".
3. Right-click the icon for your Canon printer.
4. Select "Set as Default Printer".

A tick should now appear beside the Canon printer icon.
