I have a Acer Aspire 3680 laptop working on windows XP.

This PC was droped causing the screen not to work as in i cant read anything on it.

Now I would like to be able to use another montor whilst still using the laptop, things i have tryed.

1. Conecting the external screen cable to the pc and using the FN key to activate the screen this only switches of the laptop screen but dosent switch to the montor.

2. Started the laptop in safe mode using the F8 key this works the external montor and scans the harddisk for the first stage of scaning then switches of the montor.

Is there a way of keeping the montor on changing a setting once i am in safe mode ??

Thanks

Richard
