Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum but i'm hoping that somebody could help me with my hotoffers infection. I read one of the other topics which detailed the virus so i understand its a somewhat common problem. This problems i have been experiencing are:
On my desktop new icons were created which once deleted will reappear nearly straight away.
My Desktop background is now blue and says
Security Warning
'A fatal error in IE has occurred at 00:28:C0011E36 in VXD VMM<01> + 00010E36. Error was caused by Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c
* System can not function in normal mode.
Please Check your security settings
*Scan your PC with any available antivirus/spyware remover to fix the problem

Also my homepage is redirected to http://ww.hotoffers.info/ad0179/ as well as every 5 minutes or so i'll be redirected from whatever page i'm viewing to that. I have used AVG free edition and Microsoft AntiSpyware unsuccessfully.. even though i have never created a log before i understand you need to use this to fix the problem so here is my log. I'm very new to these problems so step by step guidance will be appreciated. Finally I thankyou for all the work you guys put into helping out others for free and hopefully someone can help me get rid of my problem. :tazz:

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
